GoHunt Insider Review
Go Hunt Insider, is it Worth the Cost?
Go Hunt Insider costs $149 per year. It seems kind of steep right? Is it worth it? Well, that all depends how much you enjoy hunting out west. Go Hunt is a data base that has 3D maps, filters how different hunts are found, draw odds, and even has strategy articles.
If you’re wondering how Go Hunt filters info, it filters it by you being a resident or non-resident, game unit summaries/species, draw odds, harvest success, preference points, the percentage of public land, trophy potential, season dates, detailed commentary, weapon type, and even historic weather. All of this can save you a boat load of time when it comes to your research. Also, GoHunt is not just for your classic elk, mule deer, or sheep hunts in the mountain states, as they also provide the same information for states like Kansas, as well.
So for example, if you wanted to go on a New Mexico Elk Hunt, you could start your research out by looking at the Application Strategy for New Mexico. When you do this, you learn about the draw process, and how you can better your odds of drawing a tag. Next, you can look at each individual unit, and it will show you your draw odds, trophy potential, bull-to-cow ratio, public land percentage, and season dates. It will show you all of the prices for tags, permits, fees, etc. GoHunt even shows you drought conditions and what the weather has historically been like at the time of your hunt. Once you decide on a unit, if you decide to use an outfitter, you can find an outfitter using the directory, or if you plan on going to public, you can start researching where you want to hunt using the 3D maps.
I began using Go Hunt last year, and honestly, I don’t know what I would do without it. It makes planning each and every hunt I go on a breeze. Can you find all the information that GoHunt provides online or in magazines? I’m sure you can find a lot of it, but most of it takes subscriptions, and tons of time to sort through. In my opinion time is money, and GoHunt saves me more time than any of my other scouting tools.
