Wild Country Ropeman 1 Ascender Review
This is an awesome product. I switched to the Ropeman 1 Ascender late this season. I have been a saddle hunter for about 3 years now and I have been using the prusik knot that is included with the Tethrd rope, until now. In the beginning, I liked the prusik knot because I felt safe using it, seeing I was a new saddle user. The prusik knot is what you hook your carabiner to, and it locks you to the Tethrd rope. You then have to put pressure on the prusik knot to either tighten or loosen up the rope. This process requires two hands. If you need to loosen up to get farther away from the tree you have to set your bow down, which may spook or give the deer time to move away from the shooting lane. This process is the reason I made the switch to the Wild Country Ropeman 1 Ascender.
Now I don't need the knot at all. The Ascender acts as the knot. What makes this product more user friendly is, unlike the knot, you don't need two hands. You can have your bow in your hand and still tighten and loosen. To tighten all you have to do is pull up on the rope upwards and the Ropemen tightens it up for you. To loosen, you just have to flick a lever and bend down, and it will loosen and lock up as soon as you let the lever go. I promise you this will change your saddle hunting experience.
Rated on a 10 scale:
Price - 7/10
The Wild Country Ropeman 1 Ascender will run you roughly $45.00. I purchased mine on Tethrd’s website, but it is also available on Amazon. This product is well worth the money considering how it changes your saddle experience for the better.
Setup/User Friendliness - 9/10
Super simple setup. All you need to do is put the Ascender around the Tethrd rope and hook your carabiner in and it’s locked and ready to use. Super easy to use as well. If you have any questions, there are several helpful instructional YouTube videos and Tethrd has some great how-to videos for this product, as well.
Overall personal rating - 9/10
I truly regret not starting out with this product when I began using a saddle. However, switching a few years after using the prusik knot makes me appreciate it even more. I highly recommend this product to add to your saddle setup.
