Garlic Butter Trout Foil Pack Recipe
One of the easiest and tastiest ways I’ve found to cook trout is by preparing it in a foil pack. I find this method especially helpful when cooking over a campfire. Instead of using an oven, you can cook directly on the coals and it makes for delightful meal.
What you will need:
1 whole trout, boned out
2 tablespoons butter
1 lemon
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 teaspoon parsley, minced
Salt and pepper
Non-stick cooking spray
Aluminum foil
Preparation:
1). Preheat oven to 375 degrees, or prepare coals on campfire
2). Cut piece of aluminum foil large enough to cover filet when rolled up
3). Spray aluminum foil with cooking spray and place trout filet in the center.
4). Season the trout with salt and pepper and the juice from half of the lemon. (Reserve the rest to use
later)
5). Place the butter, garlic, and parsley on top of the trout and fold/roll the foil to seal in the ingredients.
6). Bake or place on coals for approx. 15-20 minutes or until the fish is cooked thoroughly. Flesh should
appear opaque and come apart easily with a fork.
7). Once the fish has been cooked, season with the remainder of the lemon juice to taste.
You can also cook your vegetables in the same foil pack, or if you prefer you can cook them in a separate
foil pack in the same method. I like to cook asparagus, onions and potatoes. This make for a super easy
way to cook your catch, and an even easier clean up! I hope you give this a try, and enjoy another way to
prepare a nice meal.
